One of my favorite things to do is learn the origins of words.

I have a degree in linguistics, and etymologies (or word origins) have always fascinated me. I was watching Auction Kings yesterday and someone used the word windfall in a sentence. I looked it up at the Online Etymology Dictionary and put this together:

Origin of "windfall"

Isn’t that fascinating (the origin, not the illustration)?

I often feel like the words we all use every day are an advanced code, and most of us have only deciphered a very, very small part of it.
